Zine Project
The Theme of my zine is my favorite video game, "Rainbow 6". I chose this as my theme for many reasons, however the main reason i chose this as my theme is because Rainbow 6 is basically my life. Other reasons are that, this video game has lots of features that are cool and unique in my opinion. In my zine i chose to do eight of my favorite characters in the game. Each character has their own special gadget and picture card. So in each page of my zine i illustrated the players picture card, gadget and Spelled out the video game by putting one letter onto each page. I used wet markers and crayon to create my zine. My zine also spells out Rainbow 6 letter by letter through out all pages. Overall I am pleased with the outcome of my zine because i liked how i used vibrant colors to make each page stand out. I hope the people who are fans of Rainbow 6 enjoy my zine just as much as I do.
On the first page of my Zine I drew the letter R because its the first page and first letter of the word Rainbow. This page has the character "Rook" as the picture card with his body armor packet at the bottom. Rook's uniform and picture card is blue. I like how i used a dark blue water colored marker as the frame of the picture so that i can use a lighter and brighter color blue crayon to make the whole page stand out. I drew a piece of the armored vest that Rook distributes in the game to portray something that belongs to Rook. I also drew plus signs (+) all over the "R" as a texture. I used the plus sign as a texture because a plus sign indicates more health or armor in the game.
The second page of my Zine I drew the letter A because its the second page and second letter of the word Rainbow. This page has the character "Ash" as the picture card with her powerful grenade launcher at the bottom. Ash's weapon is black however some parts of her uniform and picture card is orange. I am pleased with the way Ash's page came out because I felt like i was successful in illustrating her grenade launcher and the grenade itself exploding. I drew the explosion in like a spiky/pointy figure demonstrating a "boom" kind of image. I used the color black because it makes the boom affection of the page pop out more. I mixed a dark red-ish orange with a normal orange to make a flammable look. I used dotted texture on the letter "A" to demonstrate bullet holes from ash.
On the third page of my zine I drew the letter "I" because its the third page and third letter of the word Rainbow. This page has the character "IQ" as the picture card with her electronic tracking device on her arm at the bottom of the page. IQ deals with electricity so I applied some yellow and lighting shaped figures onto this page. I drew little electrifying shapes on the letter "I" to demonstrate the electricity that IQ deals with. I am pleased with the way I used a lighting kind of figures and shapes and the way I colored IQ's picture card. I outlined the IQ's picture card with a gold colored marker so the light yellow crayon i colored with can pop out more. I then Outlined the little lighting lines on the "I" so it can define the shape of them.
On this page of my zine I drew the letter "N" because its the fourth page and fourth letter in the word Rainbow. This page i decided to draw the picture card of the player "Bandit". On this page I drew Bandit's special weapon on the top left corner which is a box of electricity that you can connect to anything metal, allowing the electricity to transfer from the box to the other piece of metal. I liked how i used the color black to fill in the lighting shape for Bandit's picture card because instead of the lighting being like a yellowish gold and the outside of it black i wanted to reverse the colors so it would look more unique. I then i used a neon yellow crayon to make little lighting bolts for the texture on the letter "N"
For the fifth page of my zine I drew the letter "B" because its the the fifth letter in the word Rainbow. On this page i decided to illustrate the picture card from the character "Buck". Buck was trained and his uniform is white. However some parts of his uniform and gun is blue. So i applied some of those colors to his picture card. I used different shades of blue so it could have a cold look to it since snow is cold and that's what Buck was trained in. Buck's special weapon is a powerful 12 gauge shotgun under his rifle. So I illustrated some of the shotgun shells with a faces them so it'll make them seem like they're attacking the enemy after being shot out. I am pleased with the way i drew the shotguns shells faces and used the different shades of blue. I used texture on the letter "B" by drawing shotgun wounds all on the B as if Bucks gun was being used to shoot at the B.
On this page i chose to draw the character "Alibi" picture card. I also drew the letter "O" because its the sixth letter in the word Rainbow. I am pleased with this page because i felt like I used Alibi's colors correctly. Her uniform is an olive green and so is her special weapon which are holograms that she gets to place where ever she wants to bait the enemies. I used a wet marker to draw the outline of her picture card and lightly colored the inside of it with a olive green crayon, making the picture stand out more. I then applied texture onto her weapon making it seem metal and i also drew her name in a somewhat cursive font all over the letter O.
On this page i put the last letter of the word Rainbow which is "W". On this page i drew the character "Mira" picture card. Mira's special weapon is being able to apply a mirrors on reinforced walls and whatever side she puts it on, is the side that can only see through it. I drew a picture of her mirror on a reinforced wall under the letter W. For the picture card i outlined the W with purple and colored the background purple with a crayon lightly. I also drew Mira's mirror behind the W making it all black with white streaks to represent how shiny it its. I then wrote Mira's name all on the W as a texture. I am pleased with how i made the mirror behind the W and adding the streaks to it, so it looks shiny.
For the last page of my zine I drew a 6 so that my whole zine spells out Rainbow 6 by letter. For this page i drew the character "Glaz" picture card. Glaz's special weapon is a thermal sight on his sniper rifle. For his picture card i drew a target sign at the whole of the 6 so it looks like you're aiming through the 6. I used the color red for Glaz because he's extremely deadly. I drew hit markers all over the 6 as if Glaz was shooting the 6. I am pleased with how i drew the target at the whole of the 6 and how i drew Glaz's special sniper.
